God's Merciful Providence

My contribution for a collaborative sketchbook for ~toastperson’s art class. I did the first pages in it, and since it was sent to RI from Ohio, I thought it would be appropiate to draw some Rhode Island history. Providence, RI is called that because Roger Williams believed that “God’s merciful providence” brought him here. Roger Williams lived in the 1600s, but I drew the background as an industrial 19th century scene to show what Providence turned into, and to emphasize the contrast between this and the “What Cheer, Netop?” drawing (the first part of the two page spread).
